The Battle: Me V. My Mosquito Netting

The mosquito netting here at Sangam is unlike any I have experienced before.  It is not attached to the ceiling but is a metal contraption covered in netting that confounds me every night. I will admit, that I had been here about a week before I started using it. Don’t worry, everyone, I am up on my malaria pills and I slather myself in deet most days.
But why take risks, right?

Here is how the mosquito-netting contraption works; imagine an accordion covered in netting. In the middle of the accordion are two metal joints. The metal joints are pushed in-between the edge of the mattress and the bed frame, then from the center point an accordion bends down to the foot of the bed and once I climb in bed I pull the second half over I head and tuck the netting around the bed.
Sounds simple. Well, attempting to assemble it the first time, I required the help of my roomies and when I awoke in the AM the whole contraption looked like it was a house that had slid half way down a California hillside during a flood and evidenced by the bites on my feet, I think the little buggers got though the netting.

Despite my netting failures, I will master the mosquito accordion before I leave! Promise!
